Penny Meyer posted the announcement of Mike Taylor’s passing on  Facebook:

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my friend Mike Taylor. Michael mentored me and was a good friend. I am sad he lived so far away and we could not communicate well. Rest in Peace Grand Master Mike Taylor.
Here are 2 photos I captured of Mike (left) and Bill Merkein. The top photo is from 2001 when I first met Mike. It was taken on the subway in NYC. The second was taken in 2012 at MFCA.

Mike Taylor

Mike developed some confidence in this site through his friendship with Marilyne Neurohr and allowed me to post some of his work: http://www.flattinfigures.com/pics-of-mike-taylors-work

Below are some of the photos that came my way this year of Mike Taylor and friends:

  1. I’m feeling especially sad about losing Mike today. He was so important to all of us that love flats, it’s hard to characterize in words what he meant to our world of flats. I have never ceased to be amazed by his flat artistry, I guess after we all get over this shock it may be easier to describe what he meant to the art form and to all of us who knew him as a friend. I have many fun memories of the time I spent with Mike, but it will be awhile before I can laugh about them. Thanks Steve and Penny for posting this.

  2. My Dear Friend,

many hearts around the world are with you today.
Keep on your -colored smile- in heaven.

    your little student
